Timber pavilion with stone bar beside a putting green
Patios & Pergolas · Johnson County

Shade that looks like it came with the house.

Timber framed covers and pavilions with tongue and groove ceilings, fans and lighting already run. Tied into the roofline so it reads as part of the house instead of something added on.

How we build them

Screened porch with a full stone fireplace and cedar framing

Attached or freestanding

Tied into the existing roof or set out in the yard as a pavilion. Both work, and which one is right depends on the house more than the budget.

Black pavilion with cedar posts and glass roll up door

Finished, not framed

Stained ceilings, fans, recessed lighting and power run before the ceiling closes up. Adding it after means tearing something out.

Spa built into a stone bar under a cedar pergola

Part of the whole yard

Cover, spa, stone bar and turf planned together, so the patio is not an island in the middle of an unfinished yard.

Why us

The connection to the house is the hard part

Anyone can set posts. Tying a cover into an existing roof so it does not leak, sag or look bolted on is where these get won or lost, and it is the part we do not hand to somebody else.

  • Will it match my roof?
That is the goal. Pitch, shingle or metal, and the way it meets the existing roofline all get matched as closely as the house allows.
  • Cedar or steel?
Cedar for the look, steel where the span or the exposure calls for it. Plenty of ours are both.
  • Can you run power and fans?
Yes, and it should be done before the ceiling goes on. Fans, lights, outlets, TV mounts.
  • Do I need a permit?
Depends on the county and whether it attaches to the house. We handle it either way.
